BE THERE JUNE 11

·  Opportunity knocks!

  •      ALL NEED TO BE AT NESPA'S CONTRACT VOTE/APPRECIATION DINNER   TUESDAY, JUNE 11 @ 4 PM!
  •      Please modify your schedule to attend, and RSVP immediately when asked. This is a catered dinner and meeting to vote on our contract, or to hear an update and vote on our next steps if we don't yet have a contract to vote on. Thanks!

Thank you to all who signed the petition and especially to those who came to the School Board meeting May 14.! It was a big success!

In our last negotiations 3 years ago, the economy began to collapse and we were fortunate to emerge unscathed. Though we ended up with a very small pay increase, the teachers ended up having to work more hours to earn the same pay.

This year is very different. We have the potential to make major gains if we have your support.  Thanks to the McCleary Supreme Court decision (Jan 2012), the State will be vastly increasing funding-and will need to double it over the next few years.NSD will have millions more dollars next year.

We have the opportunity to negotiate significant pay increases and other gains IF WE HAVE YOUR SUPPORT.

Your NESPA negotiating team has met with the School Board/Admin team 4 times now. But our 8 voices are not enough to turn this opportunity into realityThe School Board will find other uses for the increased state funding if they don't see NESPA members concerned enough to come to our Tuesday, June 11 event.

We are asking you to adjust your schedule and priorities now, in order to attend from 4 to 6 PM on Tuesday, June 11 at Bothell High School! A LARGE TURNOUT WILL SEND THE MESSAGE TO THE SCHOOL BOARD THAT THEY NEED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF NESPA MEMBERS FOR THE PAY, HOURS, BENEFITS, AND RESPECT THAT WE DESERVE. A small turnout will send them the message that NESPA members largely don't care, and that the increased funding should be spent for other purposes.

The Contract Vote/Appreciation Dinner at Bothell High School will feature a catered dinner (not just snacks) at no cost to you! Your RSVP is needed because NESPA is  paying for each dinner-gladly, to show our appreciation for your work this year! This will be a chance to enjoy a delicious meal with your co-workers while making your voice heard!

When a NESPA leader at your school soon asks for your RSVP by signing "I'll Be There on Tuesday, June 11," please make that commitment. We are BUILDING OUR FUTURE TOGETHER, and cannot do it without YOU.
