We hope you are
having a great summer! This week, we resumed NESPA negotiations with
the Administration/School Board Bargaining Team. We met with them all
day on Wednesday and Thursday.

So far, they seem
to think that a few more pennies will be enough to "value" NESPA
members. In addition,
they are claiming that the State report, which says that pay should be
increased substantially for educational support professionals like NESPA
staff, is not relevant to them.
We are working
hard to change their minds! Here's what you can do:
Your presence at
our Contract Vote Meeting on Monday,
August 26 at 9:30 am is essential! It's where you'll make the decision. Please put it on your calendar now. (This
is two days before the first non-student day, when most of us will be
working for Professional Hours.) Hopefully, we will vote on a good
contract. If we don't have one, those at the meeting will be making some
tough decisions about what action we will all take
together--including those not present. That's why EVERYONE needs to be
there. The9:30 am meeting is at Skyview Junior High, 21404 35th Ave
SE in Bothell. Directions are below
(It is next door to Canyon Creek Elem.)
Also, please hold Tuesday,
August 27 in the evening on your calendar as well. The School Board is meeting at 7:00
pm. If we don't have a contract yet, we hope that you will join us at
the Board meeting for about an hour to communicate the need for NESPA staff
to be treated with respect.
